Are you an old member and haven't yet renewed your membership, please go to the membership tab and renew it today. We need your support. 20th October STOPP PRESS: To ALL SDSRA membersFull Planning Permission - Application number: PA/10/02786 (updated 02/11/2011) I am very pleased to be able to advise you of two recent developments that will, I hope, make St Davids Square a better place in which to live and also enhance the value of our properties.
As you know, the Residents' Association has for some considerable time been working hard on the planning application for perimeter gates around the estate, despite continuing opposition from the Council. Following our third visit to Tower Hamlets Development Committee last night, I am delighted to let you know that we now have planning permission. There has been no change to the plans submitted to residents at the end of last year. We will now be working with Consort PM to agree the detailed technical specification and to begin the tender process. We hope that work on some of the simpler structures can begin relatively quickly but it is likely to be well into next year before we see a start on constructing the main vehicle gates to Westferry Road. Most of us have had cause to bemoan the speed of our broadband connections. We have been discussing the possibility of having fibre optic cabling installed into all apartment blocks, and can tell you that we are very optimistic that Consort PM will soon be able to finalise a deal with Hyperoptic Ltd. They are able to offer three packages with speeds of 20 Meg, 100 Meg or 1 Gig, and the cabling and connection to each apartment to enable such speeds can be accommodated by a small addition to the service charge of no more than £40 pa. In our opinion, Hyperoptic's monthly charges are very reasonable but every resident can continue to use their existing supplier if they wish. We do believe, however, that the availability of such a high speed broadband capability will significantly enhance the appeal of St Davids Square to prospective occupants and should boost both sale and rental values. We will be writing to you again shortly with details of our Annual General Meeting at which these, and other topics, can be discussed in more detail. If you could save any questions until then, I would be very grateful. 2nd June Gating Proposal referred back to Planning for reconsiderationAfter the Planning Committee's initial review of our plans in April this year, they requested a number of clarifications so our proposal will be referred back to a future meeting once a site meeting has taken place with us and the planning department. Planning Proposal for Perimeter Gating
Many of you will know that Consort PM (in consultation with the Residents' Association) has prepared and submitted a planning application for additional gating around St Davids Square with the aim of improving the security and amenity of the development. You will by now have received letters from the Council asking for your opinions. Obviously we would hope for as much support as possible. To ensure that everyone was as fully informed as possible, the Residents' Association requested Consort PM to organise a series of presentations to owners and residents to explain the details of the scheme. To date, they have not been able to do this, although we hope that they may be able to arrange a date next week and they have agreed to write to all owners urgently. Tuesday 1st February has been suggested, but we have no confirmation yet. To help matters along, view details of the proposal.
If you have friends or neighbours who you think would be interested, please direct them towards our website as well.
We would urge you to indicate your support to the Council in writing. If you have any concerns, please do try to come along to the meeting(s), and we will endeavour to address them. |

have your say...
On the new development 'Island Point '- how could the proposal be improved?
...the plan is proposed as 12 storeys high. This will wipe out a large portion of the Canary Wharf skyline view that many of us enjoy Posted: Dec 20,2007 10:01 pm |
